22 Weeks

How your baby's growing:
At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash)
and almost 1 lb, your baby is starting to look
like a miniature newborn.
Her lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming
more distinct,
and she's even developing tiny tooth buds
beneath her gums.
Her eyes have formed, but her irises
(the colored part of the eye)
still lack pigment.
If you could see inside your womb,
you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo)
that covers her body and the deep wrinkles
on her skin, which she'll sport until she adds
a padding of fat to fill them in.
Inside her belly, her pancreas -
essential for the production of some important hormones -
is developing steadily.

The most exciting thing this week was that Mike was able to FINALLY feel our baby girl move!! She has been kicking me so hard lately that the surface of my belly pops out with each kick! It's the coolest thing! Every time she would do that, Mike would miss it. Or she would stop as soon as he put his hand on my belly. The minute he'd give up and pull away, she'd start all over again. It would get a bit frustrating....

But then on Sunday he got to feel his little girl TWICE!!!! He was so happy and so was I. I'm glad that he's able to experience this pregnancy more than just watching me "swell" up. I'm glad he can share her movement with me!

  1. I remember it was the same way with Richard - I would always be annoyed becuase as soon as he took his hand off Carson would kick. :-) I can remember always wanting Richard to touch my stomach so that he could feel Carson every single time like me so he could experience it too. :-) Such wonderful times
