Praying over the 2011-2012 interns. |
The seminary banquet is always bittersweet.
It's a time to get dressed up, go out somewhere fancy, and have free child-care. It's a time for celebrating the end of another year of hard work. It's time for a delicious meal and dessert that I didn't have to make (or dishes I will have to wash - hooray!). It's a time of congratulating(!) the BBS graduates of 2011. It's a time for seeing -- and hugging endlessly -- old friends after a long year of being apart.
It's also a time to say goodbye, again, all too quickly, to those old friends, as they move on toward the work God has called them to after graduation. It's time to say farewell to the friends that will soon embark upon their own internship journey. It's a time to realize that this transient family is a family you love as much as your own.
It's a time to remember it's all for the glory of God.
2 Timothy 2:1-2
You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
One of the beautiful things about shared Christianity is that we need never say goodbye. We are guaranteed eternal banqueting at the Lamb's table with those we miss on earth!
